Balloon Art Installations with Chrish the Creative
Each time we’ve had the pleasure of working with Chrish the Creative, we’ve been amazed at his balance of whimsy, romance, and organic shapes in his work! For our most recent styled wedding shoot, Christian crafted a stunning installation around a gazebo- complete with dreamy florals and playful yet sophisticated colors.
what is your creative process like?
The first thing! I have to exam the space I’m using- the vibe of the space, lightning, the tone of the room, the materials and textures around me -they all play a major factor in my installation. Once I find my mood, I move on to colors and hues, considering the temperature of the room and choosing colors that would complement the space I’m creating in.
Once that’s done, I start to build my shape and bring my imagination to life. I like to keep my installations organic, or I at least like them to look organic lol, but everything is thought-out.
I try to be one with the process of creating. The touch of the latex, the air flow from my machine, feeling the wood boards under my feet. I have to be completely present in what I’m doing and not just blowing up balloons and tying them together. But to actually be mentally and physically invested in my project. And when I’m completely in my element aware of everything around me then I can create my best work!
What’s been your favorite installation that you’ve done?
My favorite installation would probably be my very first one. June of 2025 would mark my first full year of this balloon journey. And even though everything that could go wrong, went wrong that day, I got through it! I did it!
I didn’t give up or make excuses like I normally do. I saw the vision through even when the heat got hotter or I felt like I couldn’t tie another balloon. I kept pushing and seeing my way through.
The installation is not the best in my eyes but it’s the most important one, it’s the one that showed me I can do it and be successful at it. It taught me to believe in myself and to have self-confidence even when you’re out of your comfort zone.
And since that first installation I haven’t stop yet.
HOW DO you feel working at wonderland?
When working in a studio like Wonderland, it gives me so much creative freedom. There’s so much character within the studio alone, but still bare enough to allow you to push the limits of being an artist. The simple white walls, bold wooden floors, and over all Victorian feel of the space gives you a sense of timeless visions which opens the mind to a world of imagination. Its versatility encourages me to mix eras, styles and elements with every design.
