Last-Minute Photographer Costumes

As photographers, we get it. Halloween is not the time you want to leave your camera at home! Though it's truly nbd if your camera clashes your costume, it's fun to find clever ways to incorporate it into your costume! We rounded up some of our favorite “camera-friendly" costume ideas…

  1. Colin creevey (harry potter)

Are you a Potterhead? A fun and simple costume that you could easily throw together last-minute is petrified Colin Creevey! Thrift or borrow a white button up and Gryffindor-colored tie under a knitted vest. Thrift stores tend to have a lot of capes around Halloween, but if you can’t find one or don’t have time, a simple black blanket or something similar secured with a pin would suffice!

2. Lydia deetz (beetlejuice)

Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder will never go out of style 🖤 Channel this iconic character by donning all black with a large black hat. Add some pointed black bangs (that could even be drawn on) and Tim Burton-esque dark under eyeshadow and you’re good to go!

3. Leonard (memento)

Another easy to thrift/borrow costume! Blue button up, tan suit jacket, and tan pants- bonus points if you have short blonde hair or can find a wig! This is an extra fun costume if you choose to bring a Polaroid camera with you- distributing “mementos” throughout the night to friends, party guests, new friends, etc.

4. Vivian Maeir

Prefer to reference a favorite photographer or want something more niche? For Vivian, thrift some 1950's silhouettes- particularly collared shirts with breast pockets and simple circle skirts. Style your hair into a short faux bob or throw on a wig. Bonus points if you dress and do your makeup in gray scale to really bring the reference home!

5. Austin powers

Though we all know and love him as a groovy spy, he dresses undercover as an international fashion photographer! Another classic costume, with a camera companion- toss in some 70’s jargon, a frilly colorful neck scarf and black-rimmed glasses!

6. Peter parker (spiderman)

Our favorite crime-fighting photo-journalist! This costume would be easy enough with some comfortable city streetwear, black-rimmed glasses, and a printed Daily Bugle Press Pass. But if you' want to really bring it home and make your costume crystal clear, throw on a red undershirt with the Spiderman logo!
